MVA with Pin on NJ Turnpike

 

Cranbury Township (Middlesex)--Hightstown Squad 41 (Mercer) was dispatched to the area of NJTPK MM 67.8 Northbound for a MVA.  State Police the call back to Hightstown dispatch to advise them of 3 people injured.  At this point Squad 48(Cranbury First Aid Squad), and Rescue 140-12(Robbinsville Division of Fire) were dispatched for additional BLS units.  Upon arrival of the ambulance 41-11 found a single vehicle into the jersey barrier  on the slow lane side of the highway.  Upon further investigation they found that a tractor trailer rear ended the vehicle and two occupants of the vehicle  were trapped and requested Station 41(Hightstown Fire Department) for a rescue assignment.  Rescue 41 and Engine 41 signed in service responding.  Upon arrival Rescue 41 went into service with their tools.  Engine 41 arrived and provided fire suppression and additional manpower.   Rescue 41, and Engine 41’s crew did a passenger side removal.  Crews “popped” the passenger side front door.  Then removed the rear passenger side door, then the B post.  Fire crews assisted the BLS and ALS crews with removal of the two occupants that were trapped.   Crews had the two trapped occupants out with in ten minutes of arrival.  All three patients were transported to the trauma center in New Brunswick.  Injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
