TRENTON (Mercer County) – With the afternoon temperature in the mid-90s, Trenton’s Bravest battled a house fire on Monday, June 9, 2008. No one was home when the blaze started in a bedroom on the third floor of the house at 313 Union Street. Passersby called 911 at 4:40 p.m. after spotting smoke coming from the property. Firefighters from Engines 10, 3, 7 and 8, Ladders 2 and 4, and Rescue 1 contained the flames to the third floor and had the blaze under control by 4:55 p.m. Ambulance crews from Trenton and Ewing stood by on scene, along with a rehab unit from Trenton EMS, but there were no injuries reported. Although fire damage was limited to the third floor, the rest of the house sustained smoke and water damage and was deemed temporarily uninhabitable. As a result, the residents — a woman and her teenage son — were forced to relocate with family members for the night.
