Truck vs. Truck
EAST WINDSOR -- An accident between a bread truck and a tractor-trailer on
Route 130 yesterday morning tied up traffic and sent one man to the
hospital, police said.
Police said Juan A. Moreno- Mendieta, 22, of Union City, was driving a box
truck south on Route 130 about 8:40 a.m. when he crashed into the rear of
the tractor- trailer traveling south in front of him.
The tractor-trailer, driven by Carlos A. Rivera, 59, of Orlando, Fla., was
slowing down as it approached a red traffic light at the intersection with
Old Cranbury Road, police said.
The box truck, which was carrying bread for America's Bakery Corp. of
Irvington, sustained significant front-end damage and Moreno-Mendieta was
trapped in the wreckage for nearly an hour be fore he was freed by rescuers.
Moreno-Mendieta suffered facial and lower body injuries and was rushed to
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, police said.
Rivera, whose truck is registered to RLO Transport Inc. of Kis simmee, Fla.,
was not hurt, police said.
Police said the accident remains under investigation.
