UPPER FREEHOLD — An Upper Freehold resident was killed Monday in a
head-on collision on Sharon Station Road by the Cream Ridge Golf Course,
State Police said Tuesday.
State Police said Christine M. Squires, 44, of Route 537, was traveling
south on the road, also known as Route 539, toward Route 524 when her
Pontiac Grand Prix collided with a Mack dual-axle pesticide truck driven by
Charles Hwilka, 57, of Burlington. The accident occurred at 9:54 a.m.
The pesticide truck overturned, police said, and Ms. Squires was trapped
in her car until removed by the fire personnel who responded to the
accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Hope Fire Co., Allentown First Aid Squad and paramedics from MONOC
responded to the scene, police said.
Mr. Hwilka was taken Monday to the Capital Health System Fuld Campus, in
Trenton, with complaints of pain, police said. A hospital representative
said Tuesday afternoon that Mr. Hwilka had been treated and released.
No charges had been filed, and the accident remained under investigation.
State Police were asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact

A Plumsted woman died Monday morning after the car she was
driving collided head-on with a Mack truck, State Police said.
Christine M. Squires, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene of the
crash on Sharon Station Road, near County Road 526, State Police
said.
Around 9:55 a.m., Squires was driving a 2002 Grand Prix south on
Sharon Station Road, and the 1989 two-axle Mack truck, operated by
Charles Hwilka, 57, of Burlington, was traveling north on that road
when the collision occurred about 9:55 a.m., said Trooper Joseph
Sembler.
Squires was trapped in the car, and the truck, which was hauling
fertilizer, overturned, Sembler said.
Hwilka was taken to the Helene Fuld campus of Capital Health
hospital in Trenton, with complaints of pain, State Police said.
The road was closed for about an hour and a half.
Responding to the scene were the Hope Fire Co., Allentown First Aid
Squad, MONOC paramedics and state troopers from the Hamilton
Station.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the
