Trenton (Mercer)--An early morning house fire in Trenton destroyed a home and caused extensive damage to another. Trenton firefighters responded to a call for a reported house fire on Park Avenue at approximately 3:30 AM this morning (Nov. 7).
While en-route, units were advised that the radio dispatcher was receiving multiple calls reporting the fire. The first due engine (E-7) arrived on location an advised they had heavy fire from all floors and requested a second alarm assignment.
As hose lines were placed into operation, it was reported that all the occupants had escaped through a second floor window and jumped to safety. Several of the occupants suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital by Trenton Emergency Medical Services.
As fire conditions worsened, fire crews operating on the interior were ordered to evacuate both buildings. It took firefighters over an hour to bring the blaze under control.
Trenton units that responded to the scene were Engine 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, and Ladder 2, 4 with Rescue Co. 1. The Canteen unit of Signal 22 was also called to the scene.
