Afternoon blaze destroys Trenton duplex

Trenton (Mercer)--Trenton firefighters battled a fast moving blaze that caused extensive damage to a west ward duplex.

Units were dispatched to the 200 block of Highland Ave. early Saturday (Jan. 23rd) afternoon for a reported house fire. While en-route, units were advised that neighbors were attempting to rescue an occupant that was reported to be trapped in the building.

The first arriving companies reported heavy fire conditions from the second floor of the building and advised that everyone was safely out of the building.

Crews worked quickly to bring the blaze under control and the fire was declared under control in 30 minutes.

There were no reported injuries, but both families were displaced due to the extensive damage. The American Red Cross was providing fro temporary housing for all the occupants.

Responding Trenton units were Engine 1, 8, 9, 10 and Ladder 1, 4, with Rescue Co. 1, Special Services 1, and a medical unit from T.E.M.S.
